  • Speaking
  • Listening
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Vocabulary
  • Grammar
  • Participation

Each area is reported against what the child can now do in Spanish, with one specific recommendation for the coming stage. Children are never ranked against each other.

Certification

NIL certification

NIL Level Completion Certificate

At the end of each stage

NIL certification

NIL Young Spanish Masters — A1 to C1 Programme Completion Certificate

On completing the full 12-month programme

Certificates state the level achieved and are awarded on assessed proficiency, not on attendance alone.

Important: C1 is an advanced CEFR level. The programme should be positioned as an intensive 12-month pathway, with actual progression and certification based on assessment and demonstrated proficiency. Pacing may be adjusted for age, prior exposure, attendance and learning outcomes.

Suggested implementation model.

How the week is structured

Live classes each week, plus guided practice, homework and project work. Each 2-month stage is organised into approximately 8 teaching weeks.

Questions parents ask

Why should my child learn Spanish?
Spanish is the second-most spoken native language in the world, with around 500 million speakers across Spain and most of Latin America, and it is one of the six official languages of the United Nations. For a child it is also among the friendlier European languages to start: it is written almost exactly as it sounds, so reading comes quickly. [PLACEHOLDER: confirm whether this course counts towards a CBSE, ICSE or IB second-language credit, and name which boards — parents ask this before anything else and it cannot be answered by inference.]
Is my child the right age for this?
The programme takes children from 7 to 16, with one curriculum, one set of milestones and one certificate for everyone — there are no separate age tracks. What changes is pacing: your coordinator adjusts it to your child's age, prior exposure to Spanish, attendance and progress.
Does my child need to have studied Spanish before?
No. Stage 1 opens at the Spanish alphabet and its letter sounds, then greetings, introductions, numbers to twenty and colours, so a child who has never met a Spanish word is exactly who it is built for. If your child already studies Spanish at school, a short placement test sets the entry stage and the fee is adjusted proportionately.
How much screen time does this add?
[PLACEHOLDER: how many live classes a week, and how long each one runs. The Spanish material states neither, and the delivery section below is explicitly labelled a suggested model for that reason — this is the single most useful number missing from this page.] Each two-month stage runs to roughly eight teaching weeks, and a good share of the work is off-screen by design: the stage projects are scrapbooks, posters and presentations rather than more screen time.
Do I need to sit with my child during class?
Classes run in batches of 6 to 8 children with a trainer leading them, so your child is taught directly and does not need you beside them. [PLACEHOLDER: confirm whether a parent is expected to settle a younger child for the first few minutes, and whether that differs at 7 and at 14.] You receive a written progress report at the end of every stage covering speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar and participation. Children are never ranked against each other.
What if my child misses a class?
Classes are recorded and a catch-up sheet is issued, so your child can cover what was missed before the next one. Your coordinator will confirm the make-up arrangements for your batch.
What is the refund policy?
Under our Terms of Service we do not refund fees except where we are unable to provide the service. If we cannot provide classes according to your schedule, we process a full refund within 7 working days. It is not a change-of-mind refund, which is what makes the free demo class the point at which you decide. Each stage is also priced and paid for on its own, so the most you commit to at once is a single two-month stage.
Does this prepare my child for a Spanish exam like DELE?
Not at present. Your child earns NIL's own certificate at the end of each stage and for the full programme, awarded on assessed proficiency rather than attendance. We do not currently enter students for DELE or SIELE, and this course is not structured as preparation for either — our trainers are DELE examiner trained, but that is their qualification, not an exam entry for your child. If an external exam matters to you, say so at the demo class and a coordinator will tell you where you would stand.
What level will my child reach?
Your child starts at CEFR A1.1, and each two-month stage moves up one step: A1.1, A1.2, A2, B1, B2 and C1 across the twelve months. C1 is an advanced level, so treat this as an intensive pathway rather than a guaranteed date — progression and certification at every stage are based on assessment and demonstrated proficiency, not on time elapsed, and pacing is adjusted for age, prior exposure, attendance and outcomes.
